What to Expect: Equine Bodywork
The session
Your horse’s bodywork session will include any or all of the following modalities:
- Swedish and deep tissue massage
- myofascial release
- Gua Sha
- craniosacral therapy
- kinesiology taping of 1 area
- any stretches that are needed
At the beginning of each session, we will go over your horse’s health and history. I will observe your horse’s posture and then watch your horse move at the walk and trot on a circle in both directions. If you’re experiencing problems under-saddle, I need you to show me that as well. This helps me determine where your horse is experiencing restriction.
I need to know as much as possible about your horse to formulate a treatment plan. This includes:
- past & present training and the tack used
- past & present activities
- past & present injuries
- past & present emotional or psychological trauma
*The first session will last anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours.
*Follow-up sessions are determined by your horse’s needs and may not take as long.
